For The Love of Bees
Gordon’s Farm began as a simple hobby that, over time, grew into something much bigger.
When I was little, I loved everything about honey bees. I remember getting a tupperware container as a kid and trapping honey bees so I could listen to them buzz. I was fascinated by them!!
Much much later in life, one of my business partners was getting married at his father-in-laws farm. On the farm were two hives and all of the guests received little jars of honey. That experience rekindled the interest/ I found myself watching Youtube videos and bought the ultimate book on beekeeping, “Beekeeping For Dummies”. Next thing I knew, I was looking for gear so I could start my first hive.
What started with a curiosity about bees and a single hive quickly turned into a passion for beekeeping and producing local honey. As more hives were added and the bees thrived, the hobby slowly got a little out of control—in the best possible way.
Today, Gordon’s Farm maintains hives across DuPage County, Illinois, including locations in Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Downers Grove. These communities provide an incredible mix of flowering trees, gardens, clover, and native plants that give our honey its unique local character.
Our bees forage throughout the surrounding neighborhoods and green spaces, gathering nectar from the plants that naturally grow in the area. Because of this, every harvest reflects the season and the local landscape. Some batches are lighter and floral, while others are darker with richer notes depending on what the bees find during the season.
We harvest and bottle our honey in small batches with minimal processing to preserve its natural flavor and character. Our goal is simple: produce pure, local honey that captures the essence of DuPage County.
Beekeeping is also about supporting the environment. Bees play a critical role in pollinating gardens, trees, and plants throughout the community. By maintaining healthy hives, Gordon’s Farm helps support local pollinator populations and the ecosystems that depend on them.
What began as a hobby has become a small local operation built on curiosity, respect for nature, and a deep appreciation for the bees that make it all possible.
Every jar of honey from Gordon’s Farm represents the work of thousands of bees and the local landscape they call home.
Our Honey
Our honey is:
- Raw and minimally processed
- Harvested locally in DuPage County
- Small-batch bottled
- Naturally flavored by seasonal flowers
Because raw honey is unprocessed, it may naturally crystallize over time. This is completely normal and a sign that your honey is pure.
